"Architectural techniques unite nations": expert from Iran spoke about the connection between peoples at "The Birth of Scale" exposition
Architect from Iran and founder of the Next Office bureau, Alireza Taghaboni, visited the closing of "The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA and took part in the business and educational programme on the final day of the display.
The concluding tour of the exposition, personally conducted by the chief curator Andrei Chernikhov, made a deep impression on the Iranian architect. Alireza Taghaboni especially highlighted the cultural connection between different countries, expressed through various urban planning techniques.
"Almost every culture in the world has a technique of working with brick. The use of brick or other types of masonry in combination with geometry, colour, and shape was evident at your exposition 'The Birth of Scale.' In the East, there has always been a desire to unite meaning with geometry, colour, material, and structure. And this unity of form and content is majestic in its essence," noted Alireza Taghaboni.
The expert stressed that contemporary architects should learn from ancient cultures how beauty can be connected to meaning.
"In my opinion, the architect of the future should not be ideologised. They must be radical in their design approach, but not approach reality with a pre-established ideology. It is important to be able to observe and listen. An architect must be both a theorist and an observer. These two approaches will help architects of the future to find answers to the challenges of the times and to offer the necessary solutions," shared Alireza Taghaboni.
Honoured international guests at the official closing of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" on July 30 also included:
— Walid Arafa, founder of the bureau Dar Arafa Architecture (Egypt);
— Rajendra Kumar, director of the School of Architecture at Lovely Professional University (India);
— Nadia Tromp, founding director of Ntsika Architects (South Africa).
The international architects took part in two panel discussions dedicated to the challenges and future of architecture in Russia and around the world.
The exposition "The Birth of Scale" became a landmark event that brought together leading architects, designers, planners, students, and all connoisseurs of architectural art in Russia, demonstrating a new level of attention to the country's architecture sector.
