Blogger Irina Skugar invites everyone to uncover the hidden secrets of fairy tales at the Literary Club "What to Read?!"
Perhaps Baba Yaga is not a villain after all, and the Far Far Away Kingdom may once have had an official address. The fairy tales we have known since childhood conceal far more than first meets the eye. These hidden meanings, together with new trends in contemporary literature, will be explored by experts at the Literary Club "What to Read?!" meeting at the National Centre RUSSIA. Writer and literary blogger Irina Skugar invites everyone to join the discussion.
"We'll uncover the hidden secrets of well-known fairy tales and talk about why so many of them were originally written for adults rather than children. Bring your family and friends along — it's going to be a fascinating evening, and I'll be delighted to see you there," said the blogger.
Joining Irina Skugar for the discussion will be fairy tale researcher Uliana Nizhinskaya and literary scholar Asya Zanegina. The event will be moderated by philologist, cultural studies scholar and writer Nikolai Zharinov. Guests will discover how Slavic mythology has returned to the forefront of contemporary literature, what meanings lie behind familiar stories, and how to read fairy tales so that they resonate with adult audiences in entirely new ways.
The meeting of the Literary Club "What to Read?!" will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA on 16 July, from 19:00 to 20:30. Registration is available on the russia.ru website.
