Rich history and infrastructure development: Vologda region at the RUSSIA EXPO
At the RUSSIA EXPO, the Vologda region presented the results of the development of the road and transportation sector, significant projects in culture and tourism. In addition, an interesting entertainment program was prepared for visitors.
The capital of the region, the city of Vologda, has been and remains an important transportation hub of the north-western part of Russia. The construction of a 30-kilometer bypass of Vologda connected three federal highways linking Moscow and Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Medvezhegorsk, Vologda and Novaya Ladoga. The new bypass road made it possible to improve traffic communication and remove heavy and transit vehicles from the city streets, as well as significantly improve the environmental situation in Vologda.
"I would like to say words of sincere gratitude to our President Vladimir Putin. It is thanks to his support, his efforts that our country is united, strong and invincible. It is thanks to his decisions that we are holding this Exposition today. This is pride for our country, which is headed by such a leader", — said Acting Governor Georgy Filimonov.
Another significant project for the region is the Arkhangelsk Bridge in Cherepovets. The construction took 1000 days. The bridge relieved the traffic stress in the major industrial center of the region, unloading the Oktyabrsky Bridge, which used to be the only bridge across the Sheksna River.
The most important cultural and historical center of the Vologda region is the Vologda Kremlin Ensemble. It includes monuments of cultural, civil and fortress architecture. Since 2023 the reconstruction of the Kremlin has begun.
In addition, a large number of sports facilities are being built in the region. In Vologda, the Vityaz stadium was completely revamped. A sports and recreation complex, a swimming pool, a football field with heating, stands for 1500 spectators, tennis courts, a sector for fire-applied sports and other facilities appeared here. Lectures about nature, history and crafts of the region were prepared for visitors. Also, Vologda residents have planned a rich entertainment program, including workshops on making traditional Vologda lace, Shemogod carving. During the day, visitors will be entertained by the Vologda region's creative groups: the Russian North ensemble and the Youth Variety Choir.
