The future of medicine in the Jewish Autonomous Region: Maria Kostyuk made a speech at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 30 September, the Governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Maria Kostyuk, presented projects for the development of the region's healthcare system. The meeting with her was organized by the National Centre RUSSIA as part of a series of meetings with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps".
According to the head of the Jewish Autonomous region, one of the key tasks for the regional Government remains the staffing of medicine. "We have the "Zemsky feldsher" and "Zemsky doctor" programmes actively running today. In 2021, seven medical specialists came back to the region, and in 2024, 45 doctors and paramedics returned. Currently, 230 students are enrolled in medical universities in our country, and in a few years they will come back to us," Maria Kostyuk said.
Special attention is paid to the modernization of medical infrastructure. Regional hospitals are being updated and modern equipment is being introduced. An agreement in principle has been reached with the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation on the construction of a new children's polyclinic. We're also making steps to attract staff.
"When Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Healthcare, visited us, he noted: in terms of equipment, we are at a decent level. Now it is important that qualified specialists work with this equipment," the Governor emphasized.
Thus, the combination of modern technologies and professional personnel training are becoming the basis of a new healthcare system in the Jewish Autonomous Region.
