Healing water, a rich epic and a large hydropower complex: North Ossetia at the RUSSIA EXPO
The Republic of North Ossetia–Alania is a region with significant hydropower potential of many mountain rivers. It is a land of healing waters, incredible nature and rich culture. Representatives of North Ossetia spoke about this on the Day of the Region at the RUSSIA EXPO.
"The President of our country has formulated national development goals for Russia until 2030. Their main task is breakthrough development of the country, raising people's living standards and creating comfortable conditions for them. Over the past two decades, North Ossetia has built up a serious socio-economic base that needs to be strengthened and developed. It is important for us that economic activity continues to grow in a number of sectors, new enterprises appear, and new investors enter the region", — said the head of the region Sergey Menyailo.
Eight hydropower plants use the hydroelectric potential, the region has more than 300 sources of healing mineral and fresh waters. And the largest complex of hydroelectric power plants in the North Caucasus — Zaramagskiye HPPs — is located in North Ossetia.
The regional authorities are focused on creating a modern and high-quality service sector for vacationers, and there are five breakthrough investment projects in tourism, transport infrastructure and agribusiness. Lectures on the historical trace of Ossetians in the life of Russia and the richness of the Nart epic were prepared for the exposition. Handicraft lovers were given workshops on weaving the Ossetian national shawl, felting from wool, making dolls from felt.
They also showed gastronomic peculiarities of North Ossetia — preparation of Ossetian pies and asparagus from the largest plantation in Russia, which is located in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
One of the key events of the Day was a wedding ceremony with traditional elements of Ossetian marriage. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day.
