The Don’s great spaces and the model of the legendary frigate: the history of the Russian Fleet at the stand of the Voronezh region
The Voronezh region has presented its exposition at the "Region-2030. The Platform of the Future" expo at the National Centre RUSSIA. There, the past meets the future, and the regions’ history, culture and achievements come to life with new looks.
The main theme the stand explores is a journey along the
Great Don, which is called the cradle of the Russian fleet. The "river of
light", an artistic image of the Don, which was glorified in Cossack songs
and became a source of inspiration for engineers and craftsmen, runs through
the entire display.
The central showpiece is a replica of the legendary frigate
named "Goto Predestinatsia" ("God's Providence"), the first
battleship of the Russian Navy, built in Voronezh in 1700 according to the
drawings of Peter I. "This ship was the first double-decker battleship
created by Russian shipbuilders. In 2014, a historical replica of it was shown
in Voronezh. The exposition where it was installed includes about 700
showpieces related to the life of the XVIII century’s sailors and campaigns
they took part in," the tour guides of the National Centre RUSSIA note.
Visitors to the stand will also learn about other symbols of
the region. Among them are the Kostyonki archaeological complex and the
Divnogorye Museum-Reserve, the Voronezh Aircraft Factory, where the upgraded
IL-96-400M is assembled, and the Chemical Automation Design Bureau, which
develops liquid-propellant rocket engines. Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant
became one of the first industrial nuclear power plants in the country, and the
famous "Chernozem monolith" has long been recognized as the world
standard of fertile soil.
