"Soul of Russia": a patchwork exposition opened at the National Centre RUSSIA
The
National Centre RUSSIA invites visitors to attend the patchwork exposition
"Soul of Russia," which will be open until July 27. The display
features works by contemporary artisans from various regions of the country,
created using techniques rooted in the ancient craft of patchwork.
Each piece
presented in the exposition combines colourful patches of various fabrics.
Thanks to the diversity of textures and colours, the artworks convey deep
meanings imbued by their creators.
Guests of
the exposition will discover stunning patchwork panels reminiscent of
paintings, as well as cosy quilts adorned with traditional folk patterns. These
works are more than just handicrafts — they carefully preserve the traditions
of ancestors, create a sense of homely warmth, and serve as a thread connecting
generations. The panels portray scenes inspired by the "Russian
village," depicting the vastness of Russian fields and the everyday life
of peasant families. Additionally, the exposition includes patchwork items in
the form of both traditional and stylised designer garments.
A
particularly valuable aspect of the exposition is its history: the presented
works have been collected over more than ten years and have travelled to many
countries, serving as a cultural mission representing Russia abroad. Through
patchwork art, people of various nationalities gain insight into Russian
spirit, authenticity and spiritual values.
The
exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA is part of the large-scale
international festival "Soul of Russia," which brings together more
than two thousand artisans from across the country. Each year, the collection
is enriched with new masterpieces, showcasing the boundless creative potential
of this folk art.
