Eco-goods and conscious choice: what the National Centre RUSSIA Department Store offers those who care about their health and check product ingredients
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA brings together
brands where beauty and taste are combined with ethical marketing and
eco-friendly production. Here you can find food and home goods where attention
to composition, raw materials, and technology comes first, while design and
taste become a natural extension of a conscious approach.
A prime example is "Artisanal Chocolate from
Bashkiria". This is a family-run manufactory in the Southern Urals that
works with noble cocoa beans, and controls the entire product journey — from
raw material selection to proprietary recipes. The ingredients in the products
are entirely natural; there are no cocoa butter substitutes or artificial
flavourings. Bashkir honey is used instead of sugar, and berries, spices, and
even algae added instead of colourings.
The chocolate undergoes multi-stage manual and
semi-automated processing, so each bar becomes a small gastronomic experiment.
The guests of the Department Store particularly appreciate the lines with
unexpected flavours: dark chocolate with high cocoa content and additions of
strawberry, green pumpkin seeds, and hot pepper; white chocolate with lavender,
berries, and blue spirulina; milk chocolate with basil, mango, strawberries,
and nuts. A special pride of the brand is chocolate made with kumis (fermented
mare's milk), which has already become a gastronomic symbol of the region. Such
a product is chosen by those who seek not just pleasure in sweets, but also a
thoughtful approach to ingredients.
A conscious choice can also be made in the home goods
section. The Department Store features enamelware from the Lysva Plant, one of
the oldest manufacturers of enamelled steel in Russia. This is a classic
example of how century-old technologies can meet modern demands for safety and
environmental friendliness. Prepared steel is first coated with a base enamel,
and then with a finishing enamel. Each layer undergoes high-temperature firing.
The result is an inert surface, resistant to acids and alkalis, which neither
reacts with food, nor absorbs odours, or oxidises products.
Enamelware is especially valued by those who pay close
attention to materials: it is suitable for people with metal sensitivities;
does not release harmful elements; and lasts for many years, thus reducing the
need for frequent replacement of kitchenware. Strict quality control is
maintained over the enamel and decoration; most operations are performed
manually; patterns are applied using special decal technology, and additionally
fired.
A modern take on conscious consumption at the Department
Store is also illustrated by items from the "Kanfar" factory in the
Krasnodar region. These are ceramic cups from the "Loft" series with
an intentionally "crumpled" shape. They are made from Russian
semi-porcelain, meet safety requirements, and are suitable for microwave ovens
and dishwashers. Externally, they resemble crumpled plastic cups, but in
essence, they are their complete opposite: these cups are reusable, durable,
and aesthetically pleasing tableware that simultaneously pokes fun at the
culture of single-use plastic, and offers a practical alternative to it.
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA offers
its guests not just "beautiful things", but a conscious choice. It is
easy to find a gift or a purchase for yourself here that will be pleasing to
the eye, support health, and at the same time align with modern notions of
eco-friendliness and respect for the planet.
The National Centre RUSSIA is eager to adopt the State Historical Museum’s best practices and conduct joint cultural and educational projects.
From 27 January to 1 February, Republic of Karelia Days will take place within the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The January Expert Dialogues are held with the support of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation in partnership with the Intersectoral Expertise Centre "Third Rome".
