Excursions, scientific comedy game and masterclasses: ATOM pavilion invites to the Night at the Museum
On May 18, the ATOM pavilion at the RUSSIA EXPO has
prepared a special program for the Night at the Museum city-wide event. On this
day there will be excursions around the pavilion and the only observation
platform at VDNH, as well as masterclasses where participants will make their
own paint palette, immersive quest and scientific comedy game "ImprovisATOMs".
The Night at the Museum event will start in the ATOM
pavilion at 18:00. At the entrance each visitor will receive a memorable
souvenir - a "fuel
pill".
Each guest will be able to attend selected events. Pre-registration is
required.
On May 18 at 18:00, 19:00, 20:00, 21:00, 22:00, 23:00,
the ATOM pavilion will host thematic tours "Cities and Dynasties". Visitors
will learn about the most valuable asset of the nuclear industry - people.
About all those who stood at the origins of the nuclear industry and passed on
knowledge and experience, and most importantly - selfless attitude to the
business, pride and love for the profession to the next generations. Their
children and grandchildren continue to work for the benefit of the industry.
At 18:30, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30, 22:30, there will be
sightseeing tours of the ATOM pavilion, where guests will learn what nuclear
energy is, how it is transformed into electricity, why nuclear power plants are
called the safest. Adults will hear a story with a lot of curious details, will
be able to examine schemes, models and real historical artifacts in detail.
Children will have the opportunity to learn the most important things in a
simple and understandable way.
At 18:00 and 20:00, the author's excursion "History of
the Domestic Nuclear Project" will be conducted by Mikhail Polunin. He will
reconstruct the chronology of events of the 1940s, when the first atomic bomb
was created. He will also reveal why the development of nuclear weapons became
a matter of life and death for the USSR and what labor feat Soviet scientists,
engineers and designers made to create a nuclear shield. The tour is intended
for adults.
Also, on May 18 at 18:15, 19:15, 20:15, 21:15, 22:15,
23:15, exclusive excursions "Lilac Night. VDNH from the Roof of the ATOM Pavilion" will be held
for the guests of the pavilion. Visitors will go up to the open observation
platform and admire the view of VDNH. They will also learn more about ATOM,
which has innovative design solutions.
For those interested in science, masterclasses will be
held in the laboratory of the pavilion. On May 18 at 18:00 and 20:00,
participants of the masterclass "Nature of Art" will learn more about human vision and color
perception, production of pigments, study the composition of ancient people's
paint and create a palette of paints with their own hands, which they can take
home with them.
At 18:30 and 20:30, the immersive game "Immersion in
ATOM"
will take place. Participants of the immersive game will meet great scientists
- Democritus, Dmitry Mendeleev, Igor Kurchatov, founding fathers of the Soviet
atomic project Igor Kurchatov and Andrei Sakharov, the creator of the American
atomic bomb Robert Oppenheimer, as well as a modern scientist. The researchers
will give the players riddles, and after solving them they will receive the
components of the "indivisible" particle -
the atom. They will become part of the cipher, having collected which the
participants will get access to the Atomarium.
At 20:00, the conference hall will host a scientific
comedy game "ImprovisATOMs". This is a
competition in which two teams will solve the same problem. It will be
necessary to formulate an answer and argue. Visitors to the pavilion will be
asked to fantasize and find solutions for the most improbable situations.
Participants of the game will discuss the structure of alternative worlds,
which differ from each other in one aspect - hypothesis.
Also, on May 18 at 14:00, ten lilac bushes of the
varieties "Academician
Kurchatov"
and "Marshal
Bagramyan"
will be planted near the pavilion.
The variety "Academician Kurchatov" was bred by Russian breeders
in 2017 and named in honor of the chief scientific leader of the Soviet atomic
project Igor Kurchatov, the variety "Marshal Bagramyan" was bred in honor of the
great Soviet commander who led armies and fronts during the Great Patriotic
War. The lilacs will be planted by Nina and Pavel Slavskiy, daughter and
grandson of one of the founders and leaders of the Soviet nuclear industry, Yefim
Slavskiy, and Ivan Bagramyan, grandson of the Soviet commander and statesman,
Marshal of the Soviet Union, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Bagramyan.
The integration of special military operation veterans into peaceful life and the interaction between regions and municipalities were discussed as part of the Forum "SMALL HOMELAND – THE STRENGTH OF RUSSIA".
