New Year tree of the Novosibirsk region: Ordynskaya painting, grouse and magpies
An amazing style — the Ordynskaya painting — has become the main element of the region’s New Year’s tree.
The style was developed by artist Nina Ivanovna Mukhlynina from the Ordynsky district of the Novosibirsk region on the basis of Khokhloma, Gzhel, Mezen and Zhostovo painting. However, the artist did not just copy the elements, but created her own interpretation. The main background color is blue, and the main characters of the plots are animals and birds of Siberian forests: magpies, squirrels, grouse, moose.
The Ordynskaya painting has become one of the trademarks of the Novosibirsk region and is included in the tourist route.
The fir tree also reflects the animal world of the region in the stylized panels, that are made in the Ordynskaya technique as well.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each representing a region of the country. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday to Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The most convenient time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
