Christmas tree of the Sverdlovsk region - Mistress of the Copper Mountain
The New Year tree is decorated with a collection of trays made in the technique of the ancient art craft "Nizhny Tagil trays", which is more than 250 years old - it is considered to be the predecessor of Zhostovo trays.
The peculiarity of this painting is a special malachite background. The not yet dried paint of the tray is fumigated with burnt tree bark, and the smoke absorbed into the paint creates beautiful patterns like on malachite.
Ornate, recognizable Tagil trays can be found anywhere in the world, they are kept in many museums of Russia.
Everyone who has visited Nizhny Tagil takes away this incredible beauty with delicate flowers, bunches of rowanberries or shimmering golden ornaments.
