New Year tree of the Tyumen region: openwork pipes and carpet panels
In the fir trees of the Tyumen region the emphasis is placed on the elements of wooden architecture - platbands, as well as on the products of the die-cutting craft - in the New Year decoration the real chimneys of a hereditary craftsman - openwork endings of stove pipes - are used.
The die-cutting technique in metal processing has long been used to decorate cup holders, lamps and other household utensils, as well as weathervanes, drainpipe tops, chimneys (stovepipe caps), signboards. Cut metal is often combined with elements of bent wire, as well as forged metal usually used as brackets, frames.
The decor of the fir tree also includes miniatures of real Tyumen carpets - the only folk art craft in the region.
There are miniatures made in traditional colors - bright flowers against a black background, symbolizing the rich fertile soil of the Tyumen region, as well as small rugs in a modern color scheme. Traditional paintings on balls and wooden painted figures are also represented.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by 89 New Year trees, each of them representing a region of the country. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The best time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
