The Vologda region is very rich in folk art crafts - Vologda lace, northern niello, Vologda enamel. The brightest element of the decoration is, of course, Vologda lace. Real handmade products are displayed on the fir tree.

Lace patterns are repeated on the stylized garlands that wrap the whole Christmas tree with tenderness.

The origin of the craft is attributed to the beginning of the 19th century, when in the estates of landlords near Vologda serfs began to weave trimmings to dresses and underwear, imitating Western European ones.

All the main images in the Vologda lace are made by dense, smoothly winding linen braid. To make lace, linen, bleached or stark, was usually used.
