New records await the energy sector - Alexander Novak spoke at the RUSSIA EXPO
This year
record increase in electricity generation is expected in Russia - about 1150
billion kWh. Almost half of the capacity commissioned over the past three years
is based on renewable energy sources.
These
figures were presented by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at a meeting of
the Government Commission on Electric Power Industry Development in the Energy
of Life pavilion at the International RUSSIA EXPO.
The Deputy
Prime Minister spoke about the program for modernizing thermal power plants.
“Until 2031, it is planned to upgrade outdated equipment in a total volume of up to 46 GW - this is about 18% of the country’s generating capacity. These measures will reduce the accident rate at thermal power plants and improve the reliability of power supply. The groundwork for connecting new consumers will also be formed. Particular attention is paid to the development of the energy potential of new subjects of the Russian Federation. In the next two years, it is planned to restore more than two thousand MW of generating capacity, over 400 power grid facilities”, - said Alexander Novak.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country, gathered is one place. Visitors are presented with expositions of 89 regions of Russia, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations. The RUSSIA EXPO takes place from November 4 to April 12 on the territory of VDNH in Moscow.
The event will feature a presentation of a collection of essays written by participants of the international project "Open Dialogue: The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth."
