Evolution of the Russian tax system: Lecture by Head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Egorov

At the RUSSIA EXPO, Head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Egorov spoke about the prospects of tax administration in Russia, interactive services and contactless service, which make the tax system modern and more convenient for taxpayers.

In his presentation, the head of the Federal Tax Service spoke about the structure of the Russian tax system and touched upon its evolution. The speaker noted that by now the scale of the FTS system is 148 thousand employees and 492 territorial tax authorities from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka.

"Today you can pay 90% of taxes just by pressing a button. The most striking example is the My Tax service for the self-employed. We started working on it by gathering information. As it turned out, entrepreneurs most of all want to do their business without being distracted by personal communication with tax officials. And at the same time 70% of respondents said that they are ready to pay 2-6% of their income as tax. That is, our entrepreneurs are responsible conscientious people. Today My Tax is used by more than 9 million people, and this is despite the fact that we did not even need to create a special law for the self-employed", — stressed Daniil Egorov.

Daniil Egorov emphasized the importance of big data in the tax sphere and not only there. The speaker introduced the audience to the history of the value-added system and spoke about its capabilities.

Also, in the course of his lecture, the speaker talked about the Civil Registry unified information system, created in 2020, which not only integrates data on Russian citizens, but also makes it possible to solve global problems. For example, during the pandemic, it was this system that made it possible to provide targeted assistance to families with children: without the unified information system, the authorities would simply not have been able to "see" such families and grant allowances.

Noting the evolution of the Federal Tax Service, Daniil Egorov stressed that he sees the organization’s task in cooperation with business, not in tightening control. At the end of the lecture, he wished young people to be active and to try their hand at different projects more often.

Daniil Egorov’s lecture was held within the framework of the educational program of the Russian Society "Knowledge".
