Sirius Federal Territory presented new opportunities for science and education at the RUSSIA EXPO
On January
18, the Federal Territory Sirius Day was held at the International RUSSIA EXPO.
It presented new opportunities for science and innovation, technological
creativity, education and enlightenment, and international cooperation, which
emerged thanks to the creation of a new scientific center.
"Three
years ago the President made an unprecedented decision to create the first and
so far the only federal territory Sirius in Russia, and on its basis a lot of
other unique projects have already been created and are developing, each of
them having a lot to offer. This is both a Sirius University and an innovative
science and technology center, where new laboratories and engineering centers
are being opened, modern technologies are being developed and
implemented," said Elena Shmeleva, Chair of the Sirius Federal Territory
Council, in her speech.
This year
the federal territory has received an additional impetus to development - by
order of the head of state Sirius has become a national methodological center
for identifying and developing talents among young Russians. In the coming
months, each of Russia's regions should establish local institutions that will
work with children and young people using Sirius methods. Meanwhile,
interregional centers which will not only work with children directly, but will
also train teachers for local educational activities will be opened in St.
Petersburg and the Kemerovo region.
However,
the activities of Sirius are increasingly expanding beyond the borders of
Russia - last year the center received significant international recognition,
in particular due to the creation of the International Center for Ecology and
Climate Change, the beginning of partnership with UNESCO, and preparations for
the first BRICS climate summit, which will also be held on the basis of Sirius.
"We are promoting the idea of creating centers working on our model in the EAEU partner countries, we already have a successful experience of joint implementation of such a project in Vietnam, we plan to develop cooperation with Qatar, Cuba, UAE. But the most important event this year for us will be the World Youth Festival held from March 1 to 7 - the largest youth event in the world, created by the decision of the President," said Elena Shmeleva.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered on one platform. Throughout the entire time of the Exposition, guests can look forward to cultural events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal agencies, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors. The exposition takes place at VDNH in Moscow from November 4 to April 12.
