Photo exposition of the Russian society Znanie to showcase the country’s cultural diversity at the National Centre RUSSIA
The
cultural diversity of the country will be showcased through photography at the
National Centre RUSSIA. To mark National Unity Day, a photo exposition will
open at the venue, presenting works by the finalists of the All-Russian photo
contest "Znanie.Russia – Peoples of Russia." This was announced by
Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA,
during a press conference at ITAR-TASS on July 21.
"To
mark National Unity Day, the National Centre RUSSIA will open the photo exposition
'Znanie.Russia – Peoples of Russia.' We invite everyone to visit the exposition
— all events are free to attend. The space of the National Centre was created
by the President to unite the peoples of our country and to give them the
opportunity to take pride in Russia’s multifaceted history, rediscovering its
rich cultural legacy. On the same day, the final of the project 'Musical Map of
Russia' will take place, featuring musical works by various peoples in a
contemporary interpretation. We invite everyone to the concert, which promises
to be a true celebration of music," said Anastasia Zvyagina.
The
organisers of the All-Russian photo contest, which was launched on July 21, are
the Guild of Interethnic Journalism together with the Russian society Znanie.
The project aims to showcase the country’s cultural diversity through the
lenses of photographers who have captured unique traditions, customs and
everyday life of the peoples of Russia.
The photo contest includes four categories: national dances; national weddings; authentic Russia (objects and landscapes); and children of Russia. Any resident of Russia — whether a professional or an amateur — can submit their work. Photographs will be accepted until August 30 on the website of the Russian society Znanie, said Maxim Dreval, Director General of the Russian society Znanie.
"In the All-Russian public and state organisation 'Assembly of the Peoples of Russia,' which is a partner of the contest, we carry out annual projects aimed at highlighting the national and cultural diversity of our country. For example, the 'Pride of the Nation' contest and the 'Family Life in Love and Fidelity' project. I am confident that the contest and the exposition 'Znanie.Russia – Peoples of Russia' will bring together creative individuals whose talents are revealed through love for their families, their loved ones, and both their greater and smaller homeland. On our part, we are ready to present the exposition in the State Duma as well," said Maxim Dreval.
He
emphasised that a special category will be dedicated to the heroes of Russia —
representatives of different ethnic groups who are defending the country.
The
selection of the best photographs will continue throughout September. Based on
the results, the expert jury will choose 60 finalists. Their works will be on
display at the National Centre RUSSIA starting from November 4.
The photo contest "Znanie.Russia – Peoples of Russia" is a step toward the people, with love and sincerity, noted Vladimir Vasiliev, Head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma and Chair of the All-Russian public and state organisation "Assembly of the Peoples of Russia." He expressed confidence that the announced photo contest would resonate with the public.
"Because we are moving in the right direction — we are reaching out to people with love and sincerity," stressed Vladimir Vasiliev.
According to Vladimir Ivanov, Chair of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, this photo contest is "a living story about the country, its people, traditions, and culture." He added that the state national policy is aimed at ensuring that all the peoples of Russia live in peace and harmony.
"The
uniqueness of our country lies in our diversity. It is our pride and what
unites us," concluded the Chair of the Duma Committee.
For her part, President of the Guild of Interethnic Journalism and member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Margarita Lyange, noted that the contest entries will be judged by professional photographers, public figures, journalists, and representatives of the Russian society Znanie.
"Our
expert council will begin its work in the first days of September, and I
believe we will manage the process promptly," said Margarita Lyange.
In addition to the photo exposition, on
November 4, visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA can also enjoy the gala
concert of the "Musical Map of Russia" project, where music of
different ethnic groups will be performed in a modern interpretation.
