A presentation of the All-Russian song Contest for composers named "Those songs that our mother sang to us", dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Mikhail Matusovsky's birth, was held at the creative evening "Speak like Matusovsky".  The evening event belongs to the cycle "Masterpieces. The best in Russia", and was held at the National Centre RUSSIA.

The start of the large-scale creative competition was announced by the Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts named after Mikhail Matusovsky, with support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the National Centre RUSSIA. The contest is dedicated to two significant dates — the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and the 110th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding songwriter.

The project aims to create new musical interpretations of Matusovsky's works, to support young talents, and preserve the traditions of the Russian song culture. The poet's heirs have granted official permission to use his poems in the competition. This is a unique opportunity for composers to give new life to the immortal lines that formed the basis of such hits as "Moscow Nights", "Old Maple" and "Where the Motherland Begins".

Participants are invited to create original musical compositions in any genre — from lyrical ballads to modern arrangements. The main criterion is to convey the depth and emotional intensity of Matusovsky's poetry.

The final of the competition will be held on December 17 in the Grand Concert Hall of the National Centre RUSSIA, where the works of the winners will be performed by leading artists.

The organizers emphasize a special importance of the event, which will become a bridge between generations, and a new stage in the development of the creative heritage of the classic.

For the participants, this is a chance to enter the history of Russian musical culture — perhaps, their melodies will become new popular hits, like previously Veniamin Basner's songs based on Matusovsky's poems. The poet's recently published collection "Selected Writings", which was successfully presented on the Red Square, can serve as inspiration for creativity.

Applications for the competition are still being accepted. Detailed information about the terms of participation is available on the official website of the project. Current news and announcements are published on the portal of the National Centre RUSSIA russia.ru and its social media pages.

The author's project "Masterpieces. The Best in Russia" was created by the National Centre RUSSIA to raise the level of the population's culture, to create a sense of pride in the achievements of the country, and strengthen family traditions through art. The project's "World of Poetry" cycle makes the audience familiar to Russia's literary heritage through a synthesis of theater, music, and interactive technologies.

You can attend educational and cultural events of the National Centre RUSSIA free of charge by pre-registration on the website russia.ru. Up-to-date information about upcoming events can be found in the "Events" section.
