Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov to present a strategy for changes in the region up to 2030 at the National Centre RUSSIA
09.02.2025

The cycle of meetings with heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation titled "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 steps" starts at the National Centre RUSSIA. The heads of the regions will talk about both priority steps towards a prosperous future and strategic objectives aimed at improving people's quality of life.

On 4 September, a string of meetings will start with a dialogue with Sergei Melikov, head of the Republic of Dagestan. There, matters of the region's development up to the year 2030 will be considered.

Dagestan is a prosperous region, and a home to over 3 million people, where traditions and modernity are organically intertwined. That is why the development of the republic is seen as a key priority to its authorities at all levels of government.

The head of Dagestan will talk about plans to create new jobs and to upgrade water supply and gas networks in remote settlements, and about projects in the field of renewable energy.

The need of the region's residents in comfortable and safe public transport became the impetus for launching a comprehensive transport reform. At the meeting, we will learn how the Republic plans to optimize the urban and inter-municipal route network, what buses will carry residents from Makhachkala to Kaspiysk, and how the fares will be calculated.

During the conversation, special attention will be paid to the growth points of Dagestan's agro-industrial complex. Another priority area of the republic's authorities activity is the achievement of environmental well-being. Sergei Melikov will talk about how the region solves the problem of municipal waste management, which is a pressing issue for all territories of the country, and what pilot projects help in this.

Besides that, the head of Dagestan will share plans to increase tourism potential: development of new routes, construction of hotels and recreation centres, and expansion of the number of cafes and restaurants.

Meetings with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are held as part of the full-scale regional programme of the National Centre RUSSIA called "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 steps". Its implementation is carried out in accordance with the national development goals of Russia, which are defined by the President, and is based on the principle of the primacy of the interests of each individual, their self-realization and improvement of the quality of life.
