Proud, independent and unyielding city: Sevastopol Day at the RUSSIA EXPO
Hero City, the main naval base of the Black Sea Fleet, as well as an ice-free seaport, industrial, scientific, technical, cultural and historical center. On January 8, Sevastopol Day was held at the RUSSIA EXPO.
"10 years ago, Sevastopol returned to its native harbor. Hero City Sevastopol with the support of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation continues to develop. On the instructions of Vladimir Putin, we are implementing a colossal architectural and infrastructure project that has no analogues in Sevastopol or in Russia — a cultural cluster on Cape Khrustalny, which includes the Academy of Choreography under the direction of Sergei Polunin, the Opera and Ballet Theater, and a museum complex", — stressed Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev.
He also added that on the initiative of the President a unique historical and archeological park Tauric Chersonese is being built near the ancient Chersonese. Also under construction is the Museum of Antiquity, a tourist and pilgrimage center is being built and much more. At the opening ceremony of Sevastopol Day, the head of the region awarded the Director General of the ANO «Directorate of the Exhibition of Achievements "Russia"» Natalia Virtuozova with a certificate of honor of the Government of Sevastopol.
"Sevastopol’s exposition at the RUSSIA EXPO has already become a native one for us. It is a proud, independent, unyielding, but cheerful city. The spirit of freedom lives in every Sevastopol resident", — said Natalia Virtuozova.
People’s Artist of Russia, actor and director Vladimir Mashkov also received the award.
"Such attention from a great, legendary city is a great honor for me. Attentive, loving people live there. There are amazing, talented children in Sevastopol. We — Oleg Tabakov’s Theater and the Union of Theater Workers — will cooperate with this great city in the hope that all Russia will grow with your talents", — said Vladimir Mashkov.
The main economic potential of the region is represented by manufacturing industry (shipbuilding and ship repair), agriculture (viticulture and winemaking) and fishing. Winemaking is also developing, and special attention is paid to this sphere and the development of wine tourism. On Sevastopol Day there were unique activities at the exposition — masterclasses on knitting nautical knots and painting with wine.
In addition, the reenactors prepared performances for the guests, showing the Roman period of antiquity in ancient Chersonese of I–III centuries: weapons, life, battle tactics, "school of gladiators", dance numbers.
At the end of the day visitors to the RUSSIA EXPO will enjoy a concert of the best bands of Sevastopol and the winner of the Channel One TV project The Voice. No longer children Veronica Syromlya.
In anticipation of Easter, the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA has prepared a wide range of themed items and gifts for visitors.
The children's workshop "Houses and Little Homes in the City" was held on 19 April at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The large-scale international project Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA from 28 to 30 April 2025.
