The original event "The Role of the Russian Language in the Future History of Humanity" will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA on June 5, on the eve of Russian Language Day and the birthday of Alexander Pushkin — the genius whose works have become a benchmark of the Russian literary language.

The meeting is part of the literary club "What to Read?!", launched by the National Centre RUSSIA to promote a culture of reading. The event will be hosted by Alexei Chesnakov, Head of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Political Conjuncture, Professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, and author of the Telegram channel "Chesnakov.Library".

The evening will offer guests a new perspective on the significance of the Russian language in global history and culture, tracing how the living word creates a link between eras, preserving the wisdom of ancestors for future generations.

Special attention will be paid to the legacy of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. Together with Alexei Chesnakov, participants will analyse famous expressions of the great writer that have become part of everyday speech, explore why Pushkin is considered the founder of the modern Russian language, and examine how his work continues to inspire people around the world, preserving and promoting cultural and spiritual values.

Among the invited guests are Maria Aksenova — Russian educator, entrepreneur, publisher and editor-in-chief of the "Children’s Encyclopaedia Avanta+," public figure, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and laureate of the Russian Federation Presidential Prize in the field of education — and Yelena Saburova, a descendant of A. S. Pushkin through his eldest son Alexander Alexandrovich, chief librarian of Library No. 1 named after A. S. Griboyedov and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Association "Community of Educational Organisations and Educators Named after A. S. Pushkin."

The "What to Read?!" club was created at the National Centre RUSSIA as an intellectual platform for literary discussion, idea exchange and the development of strategic thinking. It focuses on cultivating a reading culture, interest in thoughtful writing, and expanding the space for public dialogue.

Participation in the club’s events and in many other educational and cultural programmes of the National Centre RUSSIA is free of charge with prior registration on the website russia.ru. Up-to-date information about upcoming events is available in the "Events" section.
