Exposition guests watched the feature film "Through the Thorns to the Stars"
On May 25, the series of film screenings "Films about the Main Things" resumed. The audience watched and discussed the movie "Through the Thorns to the Stars". The partner of the show is the State Film Fund (Gosfilmfond) — the main archive and keeper of Russian films.
"Through the Thorns to the Stars" is a two-part movie about space travel, environmental disaster of planetary scale, aliens and robots, friendship and unearthly love. The film was created as a result of cooperation between two great Russian science fiction authors - writer Kir Bulychev and director Richard Viktorov. Immediately after the release, the film became one of the box office leaders — in 1981, the space epic was watched by 20.5 million viewers.
At the end of the screening, the protagonist of the film Elena Metelkina answered questions from the audience and talked about the fact that her first major role was in this movie. "Thanks to the legendary director, screenwriter Richard Viktorov, who noticed me, I was cast for this role. I wasn't really a professional actress, but I became one for real after that. And I am grateful for it!" noted Elena Metelkina.
In turn, film and television director, daughter of Richard Viktorov, Anna Viktorova noted that despite the fact that more than 40 years have passed since the release of the movie, it does not lose its relevance and is also popular among citizens of Russia and residents of other countries. "The movie was released in 1980, but despite this it is still easy and exciting to watch. And this is the opinion not only of Russian residents. This year on April 12, we showed this picture in the United Arab Emirates and it turned out that even foreigners who read subtitles understand the humor of the movie. Both children and adults watched the film with genuine interest," emphasized Anna Viktorova.
The son of the director of the movie "Through the Thorns to the Stars", director, actor Nikolai Viktorov talked about the making of the documentary "Stars and Thorns of Richard Viktorov". "In the documentary I used some fragments from the feature film. In the beginning it was necessary to become a rights holder, to find a suitable platform, which I successfully did, and about two years ago everything was successfully filmed. As a child, I was very fond of taking pictures, including at my father's shootings. And these photos formed the basis for the creation of the movie about the movie," said Nikolai Viktorov.
The series of movie screenings "Films about the Main Things" started at the RUSSIA EXPO on April 27 with the science fiction feature film "Planet of Storms", produced at the film studio "Lennauchfilm" in 1961 by director Pavel Klushantsev.
