Governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov: "Book of Fairy Tales" conveys positive meanings to visitors
The "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA conveys many correct meanings to the younger generation, noted the Governor of the Yamal‑Nenets Autonomous Area, Dmitry Artyukhov. His visit to the exposition was part of the region’s thematic days programme at the country’s main cultural and educational venue.
"It seems to me that the entire "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition conveys a great many positive values to visitors. First and foremost, it highlights the importance of the traditions of our peoples. And these traditions are largely rooted in fairy tales, which, in my view, are the best way of expressing all the good we want to pass on to children — that one should choose good, feel the difference between good and evil, help one’s neighbour, stay united, and think about what truly matters: values and meaning. The exposition conveys this beautifully through the richness of the cultures of the peoples of our country. Because although our fairy tales and epic heroes differ, the meaning of these stories is always the same: good must prevail, and everything should be done to ensure that. That is exactly what young boys and girls should take away from fairy tales," Dmitry Artyukhov believes.
Among the regional displays at the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition is also the stand of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, presenting its unique culture, fairy tales and legends. Visitors can see the Northern Lights, learn about the ancient bone-carving craft of Yamal residents, uncover the main meaning of folk tales about the loon and the legend of the blue giants, take photos inside the cabin of the "Sever" swamp vehicle, and listen to the sounds of the northern wind and the region’s wildlife.
"Through our Yamal stand, we are also showing how dynamically our country is developing. In our Arctic region, one can see the combination of rapidly developing industry and modern cities — young in both age and spirit — alongside the truly unique traditions of our peoples, the peoples of the Russian North. It is a unique balance where culture, industry and nature exist in harmony, where you can hear the heartbeat of any modern development project and at the same time the singing of national motifs — for example, a traditional Nenets lullaby sung by a mother to soothe her child. And I believe our stand manages to convey this balance beautifully," the Governor of the region added.
The thematic week of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area is being held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 10 to 15 February. Guests can enjoy meetings with regional representatives, masterclasses in traditional crafts, the concert programme "Traditions and Innovations", film screenings and educational events dedicated to Yamal’s culture, nature and strategic development.
Admission to all expositions and events at the National Centre RUSSIA is free of charge. Some require prior registration. The current programme schedule is available on the russia.ru website in the "Events" section.
