In 2021 the most powerful source of neutrons in the world, that will help to study the structure of the Universe, started working in Gatchina, Leningrad region.

The most powerful neutron generator PIK was launched by scientists of the Kurchatov Institute. Now, thanks to a very small nuclear power plant, astrophysicists will be able to study the structure of the Universe, as well as the composition and structure of virtually any substance. Working with neutrons is one of the most promising directions in the scientific field at the moment.

Neutrons can also be used for practical purposes. For example, to adjust high-precision devices, in medicine — to destroy cancer cells, in jewelry — to color diamonds.

It should be reminded that the portal "Achievements.RF" was launched in preparation for the International RUSSIA EXPO. On the site you can learn about the key achievements of our country, as well as vote for the projects of the regions.
