Infrastructure menu and record construction rates discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO
Housing construction, mortgages, resettlement from emergency houses, formation of a comfortable urban environment, modernization of utilities and public transport, development of road networks and airports. At the RUSSIA EXPO within the framework of the National Achievements Forum, the results of the construction industry development were presented.
Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, noted that the main driver of the industry is housing. In 2000, 30 million square meters were built. In 2023 a record 110.4 million square meters of housing were commissioned. Millions of families have improved their housing conditions.
"I have been working in the industry for a long time, and I can say that the country has changed dramatically over the past 20 years. When you look at the figures, you see how big and important these changes are. We are now trying to fulfill an important task - the integrated development of both the entire country and individual settlements. Our main capital is the people. It is in the interests of residents that we are developing infrastructure in a comprehensive manner," Marat Khusnullin emphasized.
Deputy Prime Minister said that when defining the national goals in 2018, the task was set to reach the commissioning of 120 million square meters per year. This means 0.82 meters per person. At the end of last year, the construction industry of the country reached the figure of 0.75 meters per person. Marat Khusnullin emphasized that the overwhelming number of regions are coping with the task, while five or six years ago it seemed impossible to fulfill it. And now, if you calculate the parameter per capita, Russia builds more than China.
"In recent years, we have created such a product as the "infrastructure menu", where we have included all the measures to support infrastructure development that are in the budget. We got a rather large figure. We offer each region different measures of support. In this way we upgrade public transport, housing and utilities, build roads, schools, kindergartens and polyclinics, everything that is necessary for people," stressed Marat Khusnullin.
