The "Lighthouse" installation: a maritime symbol of the region at the National Centre in Primorye
One of the most recognizable expositions of the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region is the interactive installation "Lighthouse", dedicated to the unique maritime history of the region.
"Lighthouses are not only a business card of our region, they constitute its history, which lies both in the names of lighthouses, introducing us to the people who explored Primorye, and in the places where lighthouses are located. Moreover, some lighthouses are located in beautiful but hard-to-reach places, and on islands," said Daria Guseva, Head of the Excursion Department of the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye.
The lighthouses are among the most important symbols of the Primorye region. They guard the coast, point the way to ships, and inspire artists and travelers. Each lighthouse has its own character, history, and even a "language" that only marine navigators can understand.
The physical model presented at the exposition helps the visitors see the internal structure of the lighthouse in the cross section. The model is based on the design of the lighthouse at Cape Gamov, which is one of the oldest such facilities in the Far East. And on the large multimedia screen next to the model, the visitors can see famous lighthouses of the Primorye region: Busse (Bruce), Gamov, Basargin, Nazimov, Balyuzek, Askold and Tokarevsky. Vivid videos transport a guest to the most picturesque and remote parts of the coast.
One can learn a lot of interesting facts about the history, structures and special "language" of lighthouses, as well as go on an interactive journey around the region during an excursion at the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye.
Everyone can take guided tours at the Centre free of charge. To do this, log in to the website of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region and select a convenient date and time.
