The Irkutsk region has approved the concept for the EXPO
The stand design prepared by the region has been approved by Maxim Oreshkin, the chairman deputy of the Organizing Committee of the International RUSSIA EXPO, aide to the President of Russian Federation.
The exposition will be divided into specific sector areas: the region is going to focus particularly on its achievements in the fields of industry, science, education, culture, healthcare and tourism.
"The Irkutsk region is a dynamically developing area of great opportunities and prospects. The largest industrial complexes in the country are being operated here, nearly all the segments of the national economy are represented in the region. The Priangarie is famous for its rich cultural traditions and interesting history", — commented Governor Igor Kobzev.
The region has great cultural, historical and tourism potential. It is the leader in industrial wood and lumber production and ranks second among pulp and electricity producers in the country. Some of the contemporary attractions offered by the Irkutsk region are the Baikal museum of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Science, the pedestrian street "Block 130" stylized antique, international festivals "Winteriada" and "Yordinskiye games".
