Stories on fabric: textiles from the "Polar Willow" workshop at the National Centre RUSSIA Department Store
At the National Centre RUSSIA Department Store, products from the family textile workshop "Polar Willow" are presented — blankets and decorative cushions with original designs.
"Polar Willow" is a brand from the Volgograd region. The workshop creates unique products with original illustrations inspired by the nature of various regions of our country, develops custom fabric designs, and also provides textile design training.
The brand’s founder, Anastasia Gerasimova, is a professional textile and graphic designer, a graduate of the Saint Petersburg State Art and Industry Academy named after A. L. Stieglitz. She has visited China and India to exchange creative experiences in fabric dyeing and production. Anastasia has worked with major textile companies, implementing projects for leaders of the Russian market.
"Designs on fabric are stories — stories of heritage, travels, cultural codes, and legacy, significant moments and emotional states. These important meanings are what we work with when creating prints and patterns. My goal was to open a creative space in a Cossack stanitsa and organize jobs for the local population. I have always been drawn to the concept of family-run factories that can be based in the countryside yet produce high-quality items," noted Anastasia Gerasimova, the owner of the family textile workshop "Polar Willow."
At the National Centre RUSSIA Department Store, the "Cossack Steppe" jacquard home textile collection is presented. The pattern conveys images of blooming fields and free horses galloping through the morning mist along the Khoper River. You can also explore items from the "Altai" series, featuring the hawk-warbler — a bird that inhabits the Mountain Shoria region, where the Sayan Mountains, Altai Mountains, and the southwestern spurs of the Kuznetsk Alatau converge.
The RUSSIA Department Store in the National Centre RUSSIA is open every day, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 20:00.
On April 3, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the evening "The Secrets of Stand-Up Comedy" as part of the author's project "Thursday. Development."
