History and nature in every piece: Ulyanovsk region at the stand of the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA
The stand of the Department Store was a key part of the INNOPROM 2025 International Industrial Exposition in Yekaterinburg, providing manufacturers from across Russia with the opportunity to enter international markets. Regional companies showcased products and brands created using traditional techniques and recipes combined with modern innovations.
The Ulyanovsk region presented guests of the Department Store with jewellery made from unique natural materials.
Ulyanovsk Region
Manufacturers from the Ulyanovsk region brought to the exposition items crafted from simbircite stone, which preserves the fossilised remains of ancient mollusc shells — ammonites. Simbircite is found in large quantities in the region. The stone was named after the historical name of the city of Ulyanovsk — Simbirsk.
Each piece has a unique pattern. They vary in shades of yellow, featuring delicate veins of pyrite, and sometimes hollow sections filled with crystals (geodes).
The rock used to produce these items has a distinctive composition typical of the region’s deposits: magnesian calcite (simbircite), aragonite, fossilised mother-of-pearl (flammalite), pyrite, marl, as well as haematite, dolomite, quartz and chabazite.
The combination of natural materials and history makes the jewellery from the Ulyanovsk region truly one of a kind — each item is entirely unique.
"Accessories" is one of the four thematic categories presented at the stand of the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA at INNOPROM 2025. The exposition also includes sections titled "Groceries," "Folk Crafts and Trades," and "Cosmetics." The Department Store’s stand brought together around 100 manufacturers from 46 regions of Russia.
INNOPROM 2025 welcomed representatives from 60 countries, with Saudi Arabia as the partner country. The official delegation of the Kingdom invited the Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova, to present Russian products at INNOPROM 2026 in Riyadh.
