Yugra presented the first edition of the academic history of the region in Russia
Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area was the first in Russia
to prepare a unique scientific work - an 8-volume encyclopedic edition "Academic
History of Yugra". It will become one of the sources of the 20-volume "History
of Russia". The presentation of the textbook took place on May 17, in the "Worker
and Kolkhoz Woman" pavilion at VDNH. It was attended by Konstantin
Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian
Federation, Natalia Komarova, Governor of Yugra, Maxim Dreval, Director General
of the "Knowledge" Society, Anatoly Vasserman, Deputy of the State
Duma, and representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The work on the publication has been underway for five
years. More than 130 scientists from all over the country took part in it.
"A few years ago a three-volume history of
Sevastopol was published, as well as the history of Crimea in two volumes,
which was compiled on the basis of the Institute of Russian History, but there
has never been such a voluminous, fundamental academic work. This is great. The
eight-volume book provides material that allows to, first of all, use this
knowledge in the educational process in educational institutions of the region.
We are also talking about the history lessons of the native land at school. I
think that history teachers will be happy to use this body of knowledge,"
Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the
Russian Federation, addressed the guests.
The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation
also approved the proposal of the district to take into account the information
reflected in the "Academic History of Yugra" when creating unified
history textbooks for general education organizations.
"Academic History of Yugra" is a reliable
source of knowledge for future generations, including in solving another "decree"
task - increasing historical literacy of citizens - creating a single state
line of school history textbooks, including the history of the native land for
each region of the Russian Federation," said the Governor of Khanty-Mansi
Autonomous Area - Yugra Natalia Komarova.
The partner of the scientific project was the Russian
Society "Knowledge".
"The event is important not only for Yugra, but
also for our whole country. This work is bold, unique, unparalleled. Mikhail
Lomonosov once said that a nation that does not know its past has no future. It
seems to me that this work is nothing less than a contribution to our common
future. I would like to thank Natalia Vladimirovna, all scientists, colleagues,
and the region for such a successful project, for such an achievement. I want
to thank for the organized exposition of 'Labor Dynasties' and for the great
contribution to the work of the Russian Society "Knowledge","
said Maxim Dreval, Director General of the Russian Society "Knowledge".
The speakers noted that the work on the academic "History
of Russia” and "Academic History of Yugra" is an example of how it is
necessary to shape the generations' objective perception of the past, present,
and future.
"What for do we need to study history from the
point of view of our needs today at all? I hear quite often: "Why should
we look into the past? We need to move into the future." But without
knowing the previous path, it is almost impossible to choose the subsequent one
correctly. History is politics turned to the past. The history of Yugra is
shown here in all the uniqueness of the region and its peoples, and at the same
time - in its interrelations with Russia and the whole world.
I hope that the history of other regions, starting
from my small homeland Ukraine, where, by the way, all the current misfortunes
are based on false historical writings; and, ending with the separate academic
history of Moscow and the Moscow region, that this history will be compiled
with the experience of the academic history of Yugra in mind. Thanks to
everyone who develops this concept," Anatoly Vasserman noted.
The author's team includes scientists from the
Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Peter the
Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, Institute of History and
Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural Federal
University named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin, Ob-Ugric
Institute of Applied Research and Development, Surgut State University.
This publication is a very serious event for
historical science.
"Academic History of Yugra" is organically
inscribed in the general history of Eurasia and Russia. The book deserves the
highest praise, and of course, it is an example for other regions," said
Nikolai Makarov, Academician of the RAS, Vice-President of the RAS, Director of
the Institute of Archaeology of the RAS.
The research project "Centuries-old Yugra"

modern social and economic achievements and prospects for sustainable
development of the Autonomous Area, as well as shaping the regional identity of
