Young visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA painted items from "The Birth of Scale" exposition on tote bags
A creative workshop called "I Can Paint an Archbag" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA for young participants. The event was organized by the children's architectural studio "I Can."
The session began with a guided tour of "The Birth of Scale" exposition. Together with their teachers, the children carefully explored the exposition, chose the buildings and objects that inspired them the most, and learned interesting facts about them. After the tour, the practical part of the event started: each participant transferred their chosen object onto a fabric tote bag featuring the "I Can" studio logo.
"The task was for each child to choose a building that personally inspired them and to depict it on the tote bag in their own individual style. It served as a final gift for each student. We did not limit the children in terms of technique: some used graphic methods, while others expressed emotions through inscriptions and drawings. Our group included both toddlers from our architectural nursery and older children who practiced digital graphics. Overall, I am confident that the result turned out to be fantastic," said Marina Vaisman, founder of the "Mogu" studio.
Participants of the workshop enthusiastically worked on their tote bags, turning them into true art objects.
"First, we went on a tour, and then we attended the workshop where we decorated tote bags. We drew what we liked most at the exposition. I painted the 'Lakhta Centre.' This tote bag will be useful to me since summer is coming soon. I really enjoyed decorating it," shared her impressions Alisa, a participant of the workshop.
At the end of the event, each child took home a bright tote bag — a memorable souvenir and a symbol of their personal creative view on architectural masterpieces.
The architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA reveals the greatness of Russia through its architectural legacy. The exposition features both the National Centre RUSSIA’s own displays and items provided by museums and private collectors across the country. Among them are architects' tools from different eras, blueprints and layouts, models of buildings — both those successfully constructed and those that remained as innovative concepts. A separate section is dedicated to the future of Russian architecture — children's creative studios, student workshops, and works of young architects.
Partners of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" include DOM.RF, the Ministry of Construction of Russia, Gazprom, the State Research Museum of Architecture named after A. V. Shchusev, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the Yakov Chernikhov Architectural Charity Foundation, and the HSE School of Design.
