"Russia’s isolation is a myth": security meeting results were summarised at the National Centre RUSSIA
The annual
International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues concluded at
the National Centre RUSSIA on May 29. The three-day international dialogue,
chaired by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei
Shoigu, brought together 126 delegations from 105 countries belonging to BRICS,
the SCO, ASEAN, the CIS, the Arab League, the African Union, the CSTO and other
international organisations.
During the
plenary session, 60 reports were delivered, and the Russian delegation held
more than 80 bilateral meetings. Four multilateral meetings also took place in
the following formats: BRICS countries, the CIS, the SCO, and Russia-ASEAN.
Foreign partners held over 40 bilateral meetings amongst themselves at the
National Centre RUSSIA.
"The
level of participants and the number of states represented clearly demonstrated
the relevance and demand for holding such events, which we will continue to do.
We have once again dispelled the myth of our isolation. Conference guests
unanimously noted that our meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual trust,
whilst the discussions were substantial and productive. Naturally, the main
theme was the Global South and East. United and indivisible security for all,
which essentially provides for the multipolar world that has actually been
created and formed. And where everyone's security is valuable," emphasised
Sergei Shoigu following the international meeting.
Cybersecurity
at both regional and interstate levels formed a separate block of the meeting.
Representatives of virtually all delegations addressed issues of information
stability and the impact of cutting-edge technologies on security.
"Everything
concerning information confrontation is a major separate topic. We spoke
extensively about this, and the creation of an SCO centre for information
confrontation and cybersecurity in Tashkent was discussed. This should be
established in the near future. In addition, we talked about bilateral
cooperation, prospects for developing relations with other countries,
military-technical cooperation, and cooperation in information security. A
meeting of SCO Security Council secretaries in China is planned for the near
future," noted Sergei Shoigu.
Throughout
all three working days, an exposition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of
Victory in the Great Patriotic War was open for high representatives of states
and international organisations at the National Centre RUSSIA.
"At
the meeting with CIS Security Council secretaries, we discussed that it is
necessary to launch publication of an anthology within the CIS, primarily under
the auspices of the Security Council and on the instruction of our presidents,
that would showcase each former union republic's contribution to our common
Victory. And there, of course, we will speak about the economy and about those
regiments that were formed, brigades, divisions. About the path they travelled.
This is our major task. We must do everything so that our children and
grandchildren at home remember and know about this," said Sergei Shoigu.
The key
programme points of the meeting included: a round table on international
information security, a briefing for heads of African country delegations on
topical issues of cooperation between Russia and continental states. Additionally,
a symposium on current issues of international politics took place with the
participation of leading representatives of the scientific and expert
community.
