How did I become an exposition organizer? Success stories: leaders of the exposition industry spoke at the RUSSIA EXPO
In an informal dialog at the RUSSIA EXPO, industry leaders
talked how they came into the profession, what skills you need to have to work
in this industry, where and how exhibitions can and should be held, how to
attract audiences, and what pros and cons can be found in exhibition
activities.
The event, which took place as part of the Global
Exhibitions Day celebrations, was attended by Anna Manvelova, CEO of ITEMF
Expo, Elena Ublyeva, Executive Director of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and
Fairs, and Sergei Marichev, CEO of BIZON Exhibition Companies Association.
"When I first came to an exposition as an exhibitor by
chance, I saw that this event brings together everything in one place and at
one point in time, thanks to which you can understand who your competitors and
friends are, what pricing policy everyone has, and so on. Expositions are a
concentration of ideas, meanings, novelties, experts and emotions," said
Elena Ublyeva.
Expositions are not only prestigious, but also very
interesting. You can get acquainted with different people and give them a piece
of your warmth, travel to cities and countries, acquire new knowledge and
skills. Therefore, exhibition activity is never boring.
"I never cease to enjoy my work because, like many of
us, I have an opportunity to communicate with different people every day, learn
different industries, get new knowledge and impressions. This helps us to never
get tired of routine and go to work with pleasure," said Anna Manvelova.
At the end of the conversation, the experts gave their
advice to students and all those who are just starting out in the exhibition
industry.
"It is impossible for an exhibitor not to learn all his
life. Despite my experience, I still absorb new knowledge every day. Not only
that — you should also absorb the problems that appear in this or that team,
see how they solve these problems. And one more thing — stick together, try to
pick a good team and keep it even in difficult times. For example, during the
pandemic, when companies were literally banned from holding expositions, I
relied on keeping the team together. And, of course, love your profession and
then everything will be fine," said Sergei Marichev.
