How modern design is intertwined in the National Centre RUSSIA Department Store with folk crafts
The Russian style has become a new trend of our time. Collaboration of folk art crafts and modern designers give birth to new meanings and create new vectors for development.
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA presents products from the collection titled "Tsar Maiden" by designer Alexandra Gapanovich. "Tsar Maiden" is how Pushkin called his work "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" in the draft version.
The philosophy of the Gapanovich brand keeps the ideas of Russia's originality in search of national identity, with an emphasis on the local code of the Far North. The designer turns to traditional costume, works with the them of family and cultural memory, shows Russian aesthetics.
The folk art factories are also open to experimentation and are ready to create local collections. In the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA one can find a collection of graphic plates created especially for him by the enterprise "Folk Art Crafts — Tarussky Artist". During its production, the traditional method of processing is used: blackening. Plus, modern elements of product decoration are added.
The "Folk Art Crafts — Tarussky Artist" company was founded in 1974 with the aim of reviving folk art crafts. Its assortment includes kitchen utensils, wall panels, flower pots and interior items. What makes them special is that they are made of red clay, painted with colored angobs (thin layers of raw white or colored clay applied to the surface of the ceramic product before it is fired) and glazes. They mainly depict floral ornaments — stylized wildflowers, herbs, fruits and berries.
The Department Store project, which became the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO, and was launched in November 2024 at the National Centre RUSSIA, continues to actively develop. This year, branches of the National Centre RUSSIA will open in five regions of Russia, where Department Stores will definitely be represented. This will expand the geography of the project and present the products of domestic manufacturers on the domestic market, as well as strengthen its position in the international arena.
