Kirov craftswoman became one of the creators of “Lace of Russia”
The unique panel “Lace of Russia” was presented at the RUSSIA EXPO. Masters from seven “lace” regions of Russia, including the Kirov region, worked on the lace cloth in the colors of the Russian flag.
At the end of last year, the initiative to create the first panel, uniting the centers of lace weaving in Russia, was taken by the government of the Vologda region. The large-scale action united craftswomen from the Vologda, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Kirov and Leningrad regions, as well as St. Petersburg.
The best masters and lace artists took part in the work on the details of the panel “Lace of Russia”. One of the fragments of the panel was made by the creator of the artel “Kukarka Lace”, the teacher of lace weaving of the Industrial and Pedagogical College of Sovetsk Lyubov Antsygina. Kirov lacemaker became a participant of the solemn presentation of the composition “Lace of Russia” at VDNH.
“I received an offer to make a drawing of one of the 18 fragments of the panel in the traditions of Kukarka lace weaving. I sent the sketch of the future weaving to the organizers in January, it was accepted unanimously. In the middle of March my lace was already in Vologda. According to my colleagues from the Vologda Lace Museum, they liked my work very much, which means that I managed to cope with the task and represent our region in the year of the 650th anniversary of Kirov. I got sincere pleasure from participation in such a significant project," said Lyubov Antsygina.
The total size of the panel “Lace of Russia” is 2 by 3 meters. The product is handmade using traditional lace weaving techniques on specially designed chips. The work harmoniously combines the state symbols of the Russian Federation, the official symbols of the International RUSSIA EXPO, and the artistic features of each of the “lace” regions of the country.
