Land of permafrost and gold: Day of the Magadan region at the RUSSIA EXPO
Shellfish treats and successes in mining. The Magadan region, which remains the "golden heart" of the country, talked about its achievements at the International RUSSIA EXPO.
Neither coronavirus nor sanctions could stop its development. The region ranks first in terms of investment growth per capita. The fishing industry is flourishing there, as well as gold mining. For example, new unique gold mining factories have emerged here.
"We are ranked first in the alluvial gold mining. But other minerals are also beginning to be explored — zinc and copper. The energy sector is evolving — Kolyma is dynamically developing", — said the head of the region Sergey Nosov.
The Day of the Magadan region at the exposition was filled with cultural events — the guests were shown the play "Voice of Northern Lights" and the movie "White Snow". Visitors were taught to play national instruments and were treated to chef Alexander Akmaev’s dish of sea shellfish — whelks.
The program also included a concert "Soul of the North" with songs about the harsh land of permafrost. They are based on the culture of indigenous peoples of the Far East, including: Aleuts, Eskimos and Chukchi. The audience was immersed in a fairy-tale atmosphere with the help of throat singing, poems by northern poets and interactive activities.
