Yakshamo Atya, a character from the folklore of the peoples of Mordovia, similar to Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) from Russian fairy tales, celebrated his birthday at the RUSSIA EXPO.

His visit to Moscow became a part of the Ded Moroz Days. They take place at VDNH from November 18 to December 24.

"With a bow, I have come from Mordovia to welcome you in the heart of the capital, at VDNH, and to congratulate Muscovites, guests of the capital and everyone gathered with the coming New Year", — Yakshamo Atya addressed the guests of the Exposition.

The Mordovian Ded Moroz has a recognizable appearance — he wears a white shirt, belted with a red sash, and instead of a hat he wears an ochelye. It is a headband of red color. He is leaning on an unusual staff shaped like a horn with bells.

Previously, the International RUSSIA EXPO hosted the day of Ded Moroz from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area — Yamal Iri. To get to Moscow for the RUSSIA EXPO, he had to cross the Arctic Circle.
