Culinary masterclasses and sweet treats: Kurban Bayram celebration at the RUSSIA EXPO
On June 19, from 14:00 to 17:00, the House of Russian
Cuisine will host Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha), an important Muslim holiday
marking the end of the pilgrimage to holy sites. On this day, teams from the
North Caucasus regions of Russia — the Dagestan cuisine network
"Dagestanskaya Lavka" ("Dagestan Shop") and the Chechen
Republic project "DAAR" — will treat guests to national dishes and
sweets.
Chefs from
"Dagestanskaya Lavka" will conduct a masterclass on preparing Lak
khinkal with meat. Men will cook lamb, while women will prepare dough
dumplings. All participants will have the opportunity to taste this festive
dish. The sweet table will be set by the Chechen cuisine project
"DAAR" with halva, sherbet and seasonal fruits as festive desserts!
Attending the Kurban Bayram celebration is an opportunity to
learn about the culinary and cultural traditions followed by 21 million Muslims
in Russia. It also provides a warm family celebration atmosphere where
participants prepare hearty and aromatic meat dishes and beloved sweets
together.
Since its opening, more than 1 million people have visited
the House of Russian Cuisine, and educational festivals have become a key
feature of the new pavilion's work.
"In the first five months of operation, the new
pavilion at VDNH, the House of Russian Cuisine, has become a popular tourist
attraction and, without exaggeration, a cultural and gastronomic center in the
capital of Russia. The unique composition of participants creates an informal
atmosphere in our House and represents a small model of the multinational,
multi-confessional Russian society. On June 19, I invite everyone to join the
bright Muslim holiday of Kurban Bayram," said Ekaterina Shapovalova, curator
of the House of Russian Cuisine, author, and head of the all-Russian project
"Gastronomic Map of Russia."
