Ice of special purpose: karting competitions were held at the RUSSIA EXPO
Thirteen teams from nine regions of the country competed in
the ice karting competition "Ice of Special Purpose" at the RUSSIA
EXPO. Cups of the RUSSIA EXPO (among regional teams) and VDNH (for the fastest
pilot of the race) were awarded. In the absolute standings teams fought for the
"Grand Prix of the Museum Garage of Special Purpose".
In the race
on the rink of the main Exposition of the country Moscow was represented by the
teams Karting without Borders, GOSP Museum, NAMI, Mix, Pres-Karts and Dead
Line. The honor of St. Petersburg was defended by the team Aurora,
Grozny was represented by the team Akhmat. SMP Racing was from Sochi, and Ples
from Ivanovo region put the RIAT team on the race. The team from Nizhny
Novgorod took to the track under the name Volga, Rostov-on-Don was represented
by AIMOL racers, and Naberezhnye Chelny - by the KAMAZ team.
All teams
were equipped with domestically produced "Mix Kart Sport" cars. The
ice race was held on special studded rubber. The pilots had to spend almost the
entire race in a controlled skid.
"Through
the efforts of motor sport enthusiasts and the best representatives of
exposition activities we managed to revive the tradition that appeared five
years ago - to use the skating rink as a racing strip at the end of the skating
season. The response in the automobile sports community was
fantastic," said the race commentator, sports car tester, Russian champion
in circuit racing, participant of the World Championships in GT class and the
legendary Camel Trophy Mark Podolsky.
He noted
that the race represented a wide variety of motor sports.
"This
includes rallying, circuit racing, winter racing, and automobile cross. A
particularly nice thing was the presence of the Karting without Borders team -
these are disabled guys who are rehabilitated and socialized through motor
sports. They are very pleasant and charming people, and we are glad that the
environment we create here is helping them get back to an active life. Another
important point is that nine regions of our country are represented in the
competition - and this coincides with the idea of the RUSSIA EXPO. For
representatives of the regions there is an opportunity to establish contacts
and get involved in the movement, which will help to raise motor sport in our
country higher and higher," Mark Podolsky emphasized.
"The
Grand Prix of the Museum Garage of Special Purpose" was won by the team
NAMI from Moscow. The Cup of the International RUSSIA EXPO went to Volga
from Nizhny Novgorod, and the pilot of the team John Bagdasarov was recognized
as the best pilot of the race, he became the owner of the Cup of VDNH. The
prize "For Will to Win" was awarded to the Karting without Borders
team.
