Ice sculptures, national Ded Morozes, Nutcracker on ice, star concerts: what is in store for guests of the RUSSIA EXPO in December
The International RUSSIA EXPO is getting ready to celebrate the New Year together with the whole country. In December, its guests will be able to participate in many festive events. You can find them in the Events section of our website and in the free mobile application of the Exposition, available in all app stores.
On Friday, December 1, 90 Christmas Trees of Russia were lit on the Main Alley of VDNH in Moscow. 89 of them were decorated in the traditions of the country's regions, and the ninetieth blue spruce symbolizes the Exposition itself. The ceremony was attended by 18 national Ded Morozes from different parts of the country. In December, visitors to the Exposition will be able to meet them in person - for example, Tatar Kysh Babai, Tuvan Sook Irey and Kodzyd Pol from the Komi Republic.
Every week the Main Stage will host concerts, dance masterclasses and shows as part of the Friday at VDNH project. For example, on December 1 there was a laser and drum show. The famous creative team Forside Show performed with a spectacular musical and acrobatic program. The dynamic neon performance of Barrel drummers opened the show and set its rhythm. The evening continued with a spectacular digital light show FUTURE and ENERGY: acrobats in futuristic light suits showed their skills in parkour and tricking. The event ended with a fascinating space-themed circus performance.
Toward the New Year, on December 15, an exposition of ice figures will open at the main entrance to VDNH. The sculptures will depict significant events of modern history of Russia, achievements of the country in science, sports, industry, construction, culture. There will also be workshops for visitors on creating figures from ice.
"The exposition is always ready to surprise. And not only those who come to it for the first time - the exposition is constantly updated, the activities that will be interesting to everyone are added to the program. For the New Year we have prepared a lot of events that will create a festive mood for both adults and children: these are workshops, concerts and creative meetings. The exposition has become a place where everyone can feel at home, in a big family called RUSSIA EXPO," said Anastasia Zvyagina.
The Exposition will also host a New Year celebration for the children of military personnel taking part in the Special Military Operation. And in the last days of 2023, from December 29 to 31, the ice rink of VDNH will show Ilya Averbukh's ice show The Nutcracker, which the author called one of his best. It will feature stars of Russian figure skating.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. Throughout the entire time of the exposition, guests can expect cultural and entertainment events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal agencies, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors.
The lecture "Russian Architecture in the Global Context" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on May 30.
On May 30, the declaration on the establishment of the International Association of Children's Organisations (IACO) was signed at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The workshop "Apartment Planning Through a Child’s Eyes" took place on May 30 as part of the educational programme of "The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA.
