Lovzar as a way of communication: an Ingush wedding took place at the RUSSIA EXPO
Guests of
the RUSSIA EXPO saw the brightest moments of Ingush folk weddings: meeting in
the groom's house, the ritual of well-wishing, meeting the mother-in-law and
treating the bride with honey, the dance of the bride's sisters-in-law. The
choreographic production was performed by artists of the State Folk Dance
Ensemble "Ingushetia".
On the eve
of the wedding "rite" a lyrical couple dance "Meeting at the
spring" was presented on stage, telling about the feelings of the couple.
A
traditional Ingush wedding takes place both in the groom's house and in the
bride's house. The bride is escorted from her father's house to the wedding
ceremony by the groom's closest relative or friend, thus becoming her
"brother" in the new family.
The finale of the wedding performance was the traditional Ingush dance Lovzar. Given the strict rules in the Republic, the language of the dance was the only way for young people to communicate. For example, the girl who was the first to enter the circle could make it clear in various ways - with gestures, half glances, pausing movements - which of the young men she favored.
