Maxim Averin: "We are happy to be among the first to celebrate Artist's Day"
On 17 January, a ceremony presenting awards to cultural figures was held at the National Centre RUSSIA, timed to the new professional holiday Artist's Day. The honorary title of People’s Artist of the Russian Federation and the badge of distinction were awarded to Maxim Averin, actor of the Lenkom Mark Zakharov Theatre and lecturer at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute.
The award was conferred by a Decree of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, "for outstanding contributions to the development of cinematic, theatrical, choreographic, circus and variety arts". Speaking to journalists, the artist noted the importance of the introduction of the new holiday, emphasising that it falls on the birthday of Konstantin Stanislavsky, the first person to be awarded the title of People’s Artist of the USSR for his contribution to the development of theatre art.
"We are happy to be among the first to celebrate Artist's Day today. It is especially gratifying that this is happening on the birthday of our founder, the great teacher Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky. I would very much like this holiday not only to be celebrated, but also to prove its worth through those who follow us, in memory of our teachers, whom we will always honour, love and remember. Because we continue our service to the remarkable Russian theatre," Maxim Averin said.
Maxim Averin’s filmography includes more than 80 works. He is best known for his roles as Captain Sergei Glukharev in the television series "Glukhar" and surgeon Oleg Bragin in the series "Sklifosovsky". On the theatre stage, he appears in the productions "The Run", "Memorial Prayer", "Hamlet", "Marriage", "Backstreets" and "Orchestra Rehearsal".
