Maxim Oreshkin: "Symposium "Inventing the Future" is becoming a part of the global ecosystem of the "Open Dialogue"
Maxim Oreshkin opened the II International Symposium "Inventing the Future" at the National Centre RUSSIA. The Symposium has become a part of the global ecosystem of the "Open Dialogue". The event brought together representatives from more than 85 countries around the world.
At the opening of the Symposium, Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the National Centre RUSSIA Organizing Committee, read out Russian President Vladimir Putin's greeting words to the attendees. In his greeting, the Head of state noted that the participants would continue an open, creative discussion of what the world should become as a result of the ongoing global changes.
"I am confident that we must shape our own future, grounded in a sovereign worldview, and through relentless, bold, and innovative exploration. This effort must be built upon the outstanding legacy of our ancestors and our historical, spiritual, and patriotic traditions, handed down through the generations. It is therefore gratifying that the youth programme holds a prominent place on this forum's agenda. It is crucial that young men and women see clear prospects for their own development, and can unlock their potential in science and the arts, in sports and entrepreneurship, and through volunteer projects. When this happens, even the boldest dreams will surely be realized," Vladimir Putin emphasized.
The Symposium is being held on 7 – 8 October in Moscow, under the auspices of the Decade of Science and Technology, and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. An expert session of the "Open Dialogue", titled "The Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth," will be held in the course of the Symposium's events, as well.
"We have been actively developing a new important initiative — the "Open Dialogue". Here, there are now participants from the event that we had in April, which was called "The Future of the World: A New Platform for Global Growth." This forum set ambitious goals for itself, and they were actually achieved. The Symposium "Inventing the Future," at which we are present here today, is becoming a part of a global ecosystem of the "Open Dialogue," said Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The central event of the Symposium's educational programme will be an open lecture featuring: James Law, architect, founder and CEO of James Law Cybertecture; Vladimir Pirozhkov, industrial designer, futurist, director of the "Sber" Design Laboratory; Arseniy Popov, theatre and film actor, TV presenter; and Rodrigo Andres Quevedo Silva, chairman of the Chilean Robotics Association.
On the same day, the section "Media of the Future", the All-Russian quiz "History of the Future", and the awarding ceremony for the winners of the Russian Science Fiction Literary Award will be held. At the ceremony, a big role will be played by Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA; Nikolai Ivanov, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the Board of the All-Russian Public Organization "Writers' Union of Russia"; Karen Shakhnazarov, film director, screenwriter and producer, as well as Roberto Quaglia, Italian science fiction writer.
"The future is created by those who are not afraid to dream. This year we expanded the Symposium: we want not just to talk about the future, but to show how authors, scientists, architects and artists from different countries see it, to visualize development scenarios — from technology to culture. The Symposium is becoming a place where you can see and feel the future the way it is created by the best minds in the world," said Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The International Symposium brings together more than 85 participants from China, the USA, Italy, Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. These people are statesmen, scientists, researchers, engineers, futurologists, cultural and artistic figures, media representatives, and all those who are not indifferent to the future of Russia and the world, and are ready to make applied forecasts.
