Maksut Shadaev held the winter opening of the World of Digit pavilion and 5G test zone

Head of the Ministry of Digital Development (Mintsifry) Maksut Shadaev at the International RUSSIA EXPO gave a welcome speech at a plenary session on the development of the communications industry in Russia.

The meeting discussed the production of domestic equipment as a necessary step towards technological sovereignty. For example, STC Protei expects to start introducing 5G on private networks in 2024-2025. YADRO company plans to start mass production of base stations in the second half of 2025. Rostec Corporation also spoke about the preparation of processes for the production of base stations for dedicated technological and special 4G communication networks. The participants shared their opinions on how to further reach new speeds and improve the quality of the Internet, where the use of 5G networks is more promising and what is their difference from 4G.

At the end of the session, the head of the Mintsifry inspected the World of Digit exposition. He visited the retro-room, examined the stands of the State Services (Gosuslugi) from the company Rostelecom, as well as the stands of the exposition partners. A prototype of a domestic 5G base station from the company IRTEYA was tested. All partners were awarded letters of appreciation for their participation in the exposition.

5G - "fifth generation" communication networks. Together with Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT), they should become one of the foundations of the digital economy, including helping to develop artificial intelligence.

The International RUSSIA EXPO is held from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024 at VDNH. All 89 regions of Russia, 21 ministries, 19 companies and corporations, as well as public organizations are presenting their expositions.
