International Bird Day: listening to birdsongs at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition
Today, April 1, marks the International Bird Day, a date tied to the return of birds from the south to their native lands. Guests of the National Centre RUSSIA are invited to listen to the songs of birds inhabiting the Volga Federal District at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition.
In the Volga Federal District zone at the National Centre RUSSIA, visitors will find an interactive area where, with the help of an audio guide, they can listen to the voices of the nightingale, lark, hawfinch, golden eagle, Baer's pochard, and eagle-owl. According to guests of the National Centre, many are familiar only with the hooting of the eagle-owl and the nightingale’s song, while the sounds of other birds remain unknown to them, or they struggle to distinguish one species from another.
"In the Volga Federal District, many species of migratory birds arrive in spring and autumn. In the territory of the Samarskaya Luka National Park, 213 species have been recorded, with about 150 of them nesting here," says Dmitry Tyrkov, a tour guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The "Journey Across Russia" exposition showcases cultural, natural, and historical landmarks, major achievements, and innovative developments from all federal districts of the country. Entry to the exposition is free as part of guided tour groups, which are formed through prior registration on the website russia.ru in the "Events" section.
Their introduction to the exposition began in the Gallery of Maps, which brings together original maps from Russia’s largest repositories.
The music of Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, paintings from the Tretyakov Gallery and performances by leading artists of the country came together on the stage of the National Centre RUSSIA on Russia Day.
