The final of the All-Russian competition "Science. Territory of Heroes" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on February 12. As part of the event, young scientists gave presentations to the participants. They spoke about the unique features and advantages of the institutions where they conduct their research and shared their advice with the future "drivers of progress."

"Skoltech is a place of innovation with numerous fascinating laboratories, experienced professors, and state-of-the-art facilities. Most importantly, it is filled with students whose eyes shine with enthusiasm. It was this atmosphere that attracted me here," said Vitaliy Kazaku, a Skoltech master's student and winner of the All-Russian National Award "Student of the Year" in the "Intellect of the Year" category.

The young scientist also shared his personal formula for successful development in a chosen field. According to him, one of the key secrets is maintaining a balance between rest and scientific work.

"Believe me, focusing solely on science is very difficult, so you should always strive to maintain a certain balance in life. Always find time to rest and unwind a little. Personally, I chose basketball and earned the title of Candidate for Master of Sports. And when faced with the choice between studying a little more or going out for a walk, I would recommend doing both — study a little and take a short walk. Then, in the morning, review what you learned, and everything will fall into place. This balance is what helps me," emphasized Vitaliy Kazaku.

Vladislav Lvov, Associate Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS, spoke about the key achievements of his alma mater.

"The MISIS University is a large educational powerhouse that responds to a wide range of challenges. One of our biggest challenges is training specialists with new skill sets — people who can be engineers, materials scientists, and biologists while also possessing medical knowledge, for example. Nearly 80% of our staff are young scientists, and 45% of our employees hold academic degrees. I think very few universities can boast such figures," said Vladislav Lvov.

The young man is confident that finding the right balance between work and personal life is aided by love for one's family.

"There are only two things in life — love and love. There is love for your work: science, art, whatever you do. And there is love for your family. In fact, family is your foundation, and the stronger this foundation, the easier it will be for you to find balance on the other side," concluded Vladislav Lvov.

The All-Russian competition "Science. Territory of Heroes" is implemented with the support of Russia's National Projects and is part of the "Science to Win" initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology.
