"We figure skaters are lucky people" — Evgenia Medvedeva on life after big sport
Two-time Olympic medalist and world champion Evgenia Medvedeva spoke about her plans for the future at a meeting with the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO.
The figure skater announced the end of her sports career this spring. But, according to her, she did not have a moment when her life was divided into "before" and "after" the end of her career.
"We skaters are lucky people because we have ice shows. We can just flow from one stream to another without parting ways with the sport. We have two paths — shows and competitions. But all that is figure skating is",— said figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva.
"There are athletes who want to leave at the peak of their career after the Olympics or the World Championships. My brain works differently: you can’t run — walk, you can’t walk — crawl, you can’t crawl — look over there. When I couldn’t crawl anymore, I thought I’d had enough. And it was the right decision, I have never regretted it. It’s important to stop in time. Now I develop in other things. It’s also great, interesting, bright — various projects, shows", — she said.
The figure skater admitted that in ice shows she pays more attention to the beauty and art of skating than to the complexity of performance.
The champion also said that the premiere of Ilya Averbukh’s ice musical "Cow on Ice" with her participation will take place soon. "This is a family comedy, a family fairy tale with its own humor. As for what my role is — let it be a surprise, an intrigue. Come!" — said the figure skater.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. Throughout the entire period of the exposition, guests will be welcomed with cultural and entertainment events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors. The exposition is held at VDNH in Moscow from November 4 until April 12.
