360,000 lights will be lit on the country's 90 main Christmas trees on December 1
On December 1 at 16:30 eighteen Ded Morozes of the country's nations will gather at the main Christmas tree of the International RUSSIA EXPO.
The spirit of winter in the Yakut epic - Chyskhaan and Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) from Veliky Ustyug will give a start to the New Year holidays.
On the Main Alley of VDNH, 360 thousand lights will be turned on spruce trees decorated in the style of folk arts and crafts of all 89 regions of the country. These New Year trees symbolize the unity of the country's cultural heritage. The ninetieth tree in the alley is a blue spruce symbolizing the whole of Russia.
After the official ceremony Ded Morozes will give tours around the exposition and tell about the peculiarities of national decorations of coniferous beauties, symbolizing the heritage of the regions.
The Krasnoyarsk region spruce tree has become a reflection of the winter Siberian forest, snow-covered rowan branches and red-breasted bullfinches can be seen in the decor. The Tyumen tree is decorated with author's toys looking like carved plat bands, humpbacked horses, Siberian carpets and dolls in the techniques of Ural-Siberian, Nizhny Tagil and Mezen painting. The Chukotka's Christmas tree is decorated with whale whisker products, and the coniferous representative of Adygea is adorned with large velvet balls in gold embroidery technique with folk ornaments. For the Khakass spruce the masters of the region made large solar gold and silver signs, as well as a pogo - a stylized breast ornament made in the technique of beadwork.
The spruce of the Kostroma region is decorated with whistles - Petrov toys, figures of fantastic animals and balls with Kostroma painting. In the decoration of the fir tree of the Penza region guests will see Abashev toys, and on the fir tree of the Saratov region - Volskaya krashenkas (dyeing): these are ancient regional crafts that have miraculously survived to this day and are little known outside the regions.
On the coniferous beauty from Bashkiria there are "golden deer of the Sarmatians", repeating museum exhibits, and real barrels for the famous Bashkir honey. And the fir tree of the Volgograd region was decorated with "Tsaritsyn toy" - products of a young art craft.
"Christmas Trees of Russia" is a project to create a collection of decorative items using the most striking historical and cultural motifs of Russian crafts and handicrafts from all corners of the country. 90 trees were decorated by professional designers of the "Christmas Trees of Russia" project together with participants of the "Forest Volunteers" movement. After the exposition is over, they will be planted near VDNH.
The blue spruces are a gift to the Exposition from the Federal Agency for Forestry. They come from the Moscow region, where they have been meticulously grown for many years. The trees were dug up and transported very carefully. Not a single spruce was damaged.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. During the whole period of the Exposition, guests are welcomed with cultural and entertainment events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors. The International RUSSIA EXPO is held at VDNH in Moscow from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024.
