The international Olympiad movement was discussed at the IT-Planet Mentors Forum in the National Centre RUSSIA
On November 14, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the first IT-Planet Mentors Forum — a community of more than 300,000 developers and users of innovation. As part of the Forum, a panel discussion, "International Development of the Olympiad Movement," took place.
Participants discussed issues of international cooperation in finding and supporting talented students, new approaches, and strategies to expand the scale of the Olympiad movement. They focused on prospects for cooperation between organizers, business representatives, government agencies, and the educational community.
"I would like to note that the IT-Planet Olympiad has been included in the list of events at the CIS level approved by foreign ministers. Now we have hope that, through administrative and informational resources, we can strengthen our positions, at least within these countries, and attract more participants, despite the fact that our Olympiad is held in Russian," said Sergei Shalashny, moderator of the discussion and Chairman of the Board of ANO "Centre for the Development of Innovative Technologies 'IT-Planet'."
Sergei Dutov, Director for Corporate Innovation at the Skolkovo Foundation, encouraged session participants to consider new formats that could further motivate children.
"We don’t have obvious recipes to assist Olympiad participants, but we try, for example, to integrate as many tools as possible for creative thinking so that people go beyond their ordinary ways of viewing problems. Perhaps such fundamental skills, combined with deep, specific knowledge, will help our stars remain competitive in the world," said Sergei Dutov.
Senior Lecturer of Belarusian State University Anastasia Guseynova shared how international cooperation is built at the university. Dinara Seichanova, a lecturer at the Kostanay Construction College in Kazakhstan, spoke about the institution’s experience of participating in the "IT-Planet" Olympiad. Sergei Terletsky, Head of the Educational Centre Relations Division at Softline, and Andrei Zarubin, Vice President for Science and Education of InfoWatch Group, outlined the prospects for the international Olympiad movement from the perspective of software product creators for Olympiads.
The forum by ANO "Centre for the Development of Innovative Technologies 'IT-Planet'" is dedicated to the development and training of personnel for the IT sector and innovative economic sectors. It serves as a communication platform for representatives of higher and secondary vocational education institutions, businesses, and government agencies. The first Forum was attended by over 150 guests from all over Russia, as well as from Belarus and Kazakhstan — representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, heads and staff of educational institutions, and representatives of leading IT companies in the country.
The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the National Centre RUSSIA.
The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis. Federal government agencies, state companies, corporations, and regions take part in the Centre’s work. The first event at the National Centre RUSSIA was the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," which welcomed more than 6,000 guests from 101 countries.
The National Centre RUSSIA is located at 14 Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, Moscow. The Centre is open from 10:00 to 20:00 every day except Monday.
