On June 11, at the RUSSIA EXPO, the grand federal final of the All-Russian scientific and educational project "Icebreaker of Knowledge" was held, organized by the Information Centres for Atomic Energy (ICAE) network with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation.

The scientific and educational project "Icebreaker of Knowledge" is aimed at finding and supporting talented and gifted children, developing their abilities, and career guidance. Schoolchildren aged 14-16 from all over Russia were invited to participate in the project.

"We selected the best students who are interested in chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology — natural sciences. The competition was challenging for both participants and the jury: out of tens of thousands of people, only 12 winners had to be chosen. These lucky ones will have a unique opportunity to go to the North Pole on an atomic icebreaker. This is the fifth expedition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the nuclear fleet - a fleet that only our country has," said Tatiana Terentieva, Deputy Director General for Personnel of the Rosatom State Corporation.

In the semi-finals, participants competed within their federal district. Based on the expert assessment from each federal district, three participants advanced to the project final, where they had to unite into a team and take part in the Knowledge.Game intellectual tournament, as well as present the jury with a team solution to a case task received during the semi-finals.

The participants of the four teams recognized as the best by the jury will go on an Arctic expedition of the Rosatom State Corporation to the North Pole on the atomic icebreaker "50 Years of Victory".

The winners were teams from the Siberian (Mark Beller, Polina Disyak and Mikhail Novoseltsev), North Caucasus (Alisa Kaitova, Daria Kapustina and Anastasia Lavrishina), Southern (Diana Dubrovina, Sofia Klimenk  and Sofia Malikova), and Central (Kira Postovit, Yaroslav Savichev and Eva Cherebedova) federal districts.
